Case Studies

New Orleans, LA

In 2010 Project NOLA began to work with residents and business owners to create a privately funded community-based crime camera program, without the benefit of federal grants or local tax dollars, which has grown to currently involve over 2500 HD cameras and has helped the NOPD reduce murders in 2018 to the lowest rate since 1971.

Natchez, MS
A charming city suddenly besieged by lethal drug-fueled gun battles, learn how the City of Natchez instantly turned the tables on violent criminals by partnering with the community to begin placing Project NOLA crime cameras with Gunshot Detection on homes and businesses, which instantly helped detectives solve a murder and more effectively dismantle drug gangs.

A child shot in bed.  A mother's desperate phone call from ICU.  A community united.  Learn how Project NOLA helped community activist quickly raise funds and begin to self-install crime cameras, which immediately began to reduce street violence by successfully identifying and documenting the criminal actions of violent gang members.

Time-Proven

The most successful and cost effective crime camera program in America, Project NOLA has helped significantly decrease violent crime by dramatically increasing police efficiency and community support.   Since 2010, Project NOLA has helped investigate over 200 murders, thousands of felony crimes, and countless violent drug gangs.  In 2018 we helped the NOPD reduce the murder rate in New Orleans to a 47 year low while helping communities see double-digit reductions in non-fatal shootings and robberies.

Project NOLA greatly respects and prioritizes people's right to privacy. Raw footage and metadata from Project NOLA's nationwide network of crime cameras is securely stored on servers at Project NOLA's National Real-Time Crime Center located at the University of New Orleans, and is only used to assist Law Enforcement responding to Emergency Situations and Investigating Felony Crimes.  Project NOLA's Proprietary Data is automatically deleted and overwritten within two months, is never sold, and is not shared with third parties outside the public safety community.

Where legally permitted, Project NOLA operates Facial Recognition Crime Cameras installed on private and commercial property.  While authorized law enforcement personnel may remotely access camera video and receive automated alerts when a known wanted felon is potentially detected live on camera, only Project NOLA supervisors may access Facial Recognition data to conduct searches, which are strictly limited to assisting with felony investigations and missing persons cases.  A community based public safety initiative, Project NOLA does not use Facial Recognition to identify or locate individuals possibly facing deportation from the United States or involved in peaceful protests, unless an individual is also wanted for a Felony Crime.

Project NOLA unbiasedly treats all individuals equally without favoring with or discriminating against particular groups.  Safeguards in place to protect individuals right to privacy and freedom of expression include Project NOLA Crime Camera Hosts having the right to immediately terminate their participation with Project NOLA's community-based public safety initiative for any reason they may possibly deem necessary.
