Extremely Low Cost:

Picture
The most cost efficient crime camera program in America, Project NOLA provides crime cameras starting at only $150 and 24/7 lossless cloud recording for as little as $15/month.  Unlike costly pole-mounted camera programs, Project NOLA works to place street-facing crime cameras on private and commercial properties, further reducing operational costs while providing superior camera angles and reliability.  Very often, community members and associations underwrite some or all the cost of a new crime camera program by contributing towards the cost of individual crime cameras and/or Project NOLA cloud recording.  For example, without the benefit of federal grants or municipal tax dollars, Project NOLA worked with community members to create an extensive network involving over 2500 crime cameras in New Orleans, which continues to operate and grow thanks to private charitable donations.

Project NOLA further benefits budget-strapped police and sheriff's departments by helping to live-monitor high-crime areas, analyzing video relative to felony crimes, and actively work to identify and locate violent repeat offenders.   Project NOLA may also provide free software and smart apps that allow local 911 operators and law enforcement live monitor crime cameras from computers and mobile devices.

Powerful yet Socially Responsible:

Unlike traditional pole-mounted municipal crime camera programs, Project NOLA focuses on creating community-based camera programs powered by individuals and associations that agree to sponsor street-facing crime cameras on homes, businesses, churches and schools.  Offering advanced features like Gunshot Detection, Project NOLA strongly protects people's privacy by only retaining footage for about 2 weeks and does not employ controversial (and largely inaccurate) computer-based predictive behavior analysis algorithms.

Successes Stories in the News:

  • Project NOLA helped Dramatically Reduce the New Orleans' 2018 Murder Rate to a level unseen since 1971 (see local news story).  The Murder Rate Dropped an ADDITIONAL 41% in Q1 2019 vs Q1 2018!
  • Project NOLA helped significantly reduce Armed Robberies & Carjackings in New Orleans by almost 40% in past 3 years and has helped reduce Gun Violence in one extremely high-crime area by over 80%, at a time when NOPD manpower is 30% understaffed due to attrition.
  • Within 3 months of being deployed in Natchez, MS, Project NOLA provided highly incriminating evidence against key violent repeat offenders, which immediately resulted in a dramatic reduction in violent crime and 911 calls for service (see local news story).
  • Within months of being deployed in Fairfield, AL, Project NOLA identified and brought key gang leaders and enforcers to the attention of local law enforcement, which immediately helped to significantly reduce gun violence and increase quality of life (click here to see local news story).   Extremely impressed, the Jefferson County (Birmingham area) District Attorney recently traveled to New Orleans to meet with Project NOLA staff and discuss a special multi-agency task force that may quickly respond to Project NOLA's Actionable Intelligence concerning violent offenders, gang violence and drug trafficking.
  • Providing the City of Woodbury, NJ, 60 crime cameras for $25k (which includes the 1st year of cloud recording and a 5yr manufacturer's warranty), Project NOLA instantly saved the City $975k compared to what a neighboring city just paid for a similar-sized system (click here to see local news story).  Within 2 months of being deployed, Project NOLA Crime Cameras successfully helped local law enforcement investigate and quickly close dozens of investigations.
  • Project NOLA continues to significantly reduce violent crime, increase quality of life and decrease resident-turn over rates in historically crime-plagued low-income apartment complexes Coast-to-Coast across America.

Project NOLA greatly respects and prioritizes people's right to privacy. Raw footage and metadata from Project NOLA's nationwide network of crime cameras is securely stored on servers at Project NOLA's National Real-Time Crime Center located at the University of New Orleans, and is only used to assist Law Enforcement responding to Emergency Situations and Investigating Felony Crimes.  Project NOLA's Proprietary Data is automatically deleted and overwritten within two months, is never sold, and is not shared with third parties outside the public safety community.

Where legally permitted, Project NOLA operates Facial Recognition Crime Cameras installed on private and commercial property.  While authorized law enforcement personnel may remotely access camera video and receive automated alerts when a known wanted felon is potentially detected live on camera, only Project NOLA supervisors may access Facial Recognition data to conduct searches, which are strictly limited to assisting with felony investigations and missing persons cases.  A community based public safety initiative, Project NOLA does not use Facial Recognition to identify or locate individuals possibly facing deportation from the United States or involved in peaceful protests, unless an individual is also wanted for a Felony Crime.

Project NOLA unbiasedly treats all individuals equally without favoring with or discriminating against particular groups.  Safeguards in place to protect individuals right to privacy and freedom of expression include Project NOLA Crime Camera Hosts having the right to immediately terminate their participation with Project NOLA's community-based public safety initiative for any reason they may possibly deem necessary.
